Painted Triangle Canvas

This is a painted triangle canvas. I took a 16x20 inch canvas and turned it into this. I saw one on Pinterest that I loved, but I was not going to pay for one when I could make it myself. First off, I spray painted the whole canvas in gold. After it dried, I took blue painters tape and taped it off in a triangle pattern that I liked. I then painted each triangle a different color, let that dry, and then pulled the tape off. Some of the paint actually came off along the edges of the triangles which was disappointing, but I still love the look of it! The edges aren't crisp, but have a little ripple to them which gives it a better effect, I think. This can be done with any colors to match your home and is very easy at that!

Tile Coasters

Everybody struggles with finding the perfect wedding gift to give to that special couple in their lives. And typically, everyone always goes off of the couple's registry and buys something non-personable that the bride and groom requested. I, however, did not want to do that! I wanted something that would mean something to the bride and groom, and something that I personally made for them. This is where, with the help of Pinterest, I found the perfect thing: Tile Coasters. It is very simple to do and will fit perfectly in the home, and be used frequently. All you need is tile from a hardware store, felt, modge podge, spray adhesive, glossy spray sealer, and the pictures! You cut the felt to fit perfectly onto the back of the tile and use the spray adhesive to make sure it stays on. Then cut the pictures to fit onto the tile and use the modge podge to glue it down onto the tile. Then coat the front with modge podge to seal it and give it a glossy finish. Then use an actual glossy sealing spray to protect the picture and act as an actual coaster that repels the water drops. You're done! This is very easy and cheap to do and the person(s) you make them for will love them! It is the perfect way to add a little personal touch to your home.

Whiskey Modge Podge

Alright, so as you can see, this is the Jack Daniels logo, but the text on it is different. I did that purposely. I used a program and typed in a whiskey quote that would fit the format. I chose "What whiskey will not cure, there is no cure for." After I had that, I printed it out and modge podged it onto a little black board. After I let it dry I took some sandpaper and roughed it up just a little bit to give it that antique feel. (you can't really tell in this picture though). Then I got some hardware to hang it with so I could hang it on my wall and BAM! My own creative whiskey logo :)

Nails & String

Here I go with my name again. I got this idea from Pinterest, however I saw it done with different shapes instead of text. Like hearts and stars. Most letters are harder than any shape so this took a little bit of time. I would say I have close to 7 hours put into this project. Not all at once though! haha You have to get the board and prime and paint it. Then pick a font you like and outline it with nails. Then you finally trace the letters with the string and just go crazy. There is not pattern to it. How ever dark you want the word color to be is how long you keep going with the string. Mine is pretty solid, hence why it took multiple hours. But it looks awesome and took up some of my time so I wasn't bored at all. It was a win win :)

Melted Crayon Canvas

This is probably the easiest thing I have done. Melted crayons. This was such a big trend and it was all you saw on Pinterest, Facebook, and other accounts of that sort. So I figured I would try it too! Plus I wanted a little color in my room, so I went for it. It didn't take long at all and wasn't that messy. BUT, if you attempt this be sure to completely cover the floor around you. I thought I had enough newspaper down to cover it but I definitely did not. If you hit the crayons with the blow dryer at a certain angle, it is going to fly everywhere and fly far. Needless to say my basement floor was speckled with the rainbow when I was done. Oops. But the end result turned out pretty cool I think :)

Scrabble Wall Art

Good old fashioned scrabble. It can never do you any wrong. I think this is a clever way to display words that mean a lot to you, or just look cool in general. I happened to choose my name (so original, ha!) but I have seen it done with the words "live, laugh, and love" and words similar to that. I loved the idea of having something like this on my wall so I went for it. This project all together took me a couple of hours. By the time you cut the boards, paint the letters, and attach things to mount them to the wall, you have invested a few hours of your life. I think it was worth it though. Plus I am a big fan of the game, so how could I go wrong? :)

Just a Little Intro

Alright, so everyone always finds this crafty stuff to make on Pinterest or random internet sites, including myself. Lots of people bookmark it or "pin it" in hopes that one day they will in fact do it themselves. Many never do. I however, do most of the projects that I see online and they actually turn out just like the pictures, or even better. That is why I made this blog. I want this to be a place where I can keep tabs on what I actually make and maybe show it off a little too :) They are all very simple and easy to do, well most of them . That's why, whenever I am bored, I just look to my Pinterest boards, find something I feel like doing, and craft away :) I hope you get a little inspiration from viewing some of the things I have made and finally get that motivation to make something that you think looks cool and want to have for yourself.

Good Luck! :)
